Open TCP Port & UDP Port (IF Console Failed Communicate to Client)

Windows 2008 (and above) Domain Level

 

  1. Open the 'Group Policy Management Console' (Start | Run | Type: gpmc.msc | Press return).
  2. Navigate to Domains | <Domain Name> | Group Policy Objects
  3. Right-click on the active group policy that applies to the endpoints you wish to deploy to, click 'Edit' (In many cases this will be 'Default Domain Policy').
  4. From the left-hand panel navigate to: Computer Configuration | Policies | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Windows Firewall with Advanced Security | Windows Firewall with Advanced Security | Inbound Rule.
  5. Right-click 'Inbound Rule' and select 'New Rule...'
  6. Select 'Port' and click Next
  7. Select 'TCP', select 'Specified local ports:' and enter: 8194 and click Next1.
  8. Select 'Allow the connection' and click Next.
  9. Check only the 'Domain' option and click Next.
  10. Name the rule 'Sophos RMS Rule'. Optionally enter a useful description and click Finish.
  11. Under: 'Windows Firewall with Advanced Security | Outbound Rule', right-click 'Outbound Rule' and select 'New Rule...'.
  12. Select 'Port' and click Next.
  13. Select 'TCP', select 'Specified local ports:' and enter: 8194 and click Next.
  14. Select 'Allow the connection' and click Next.
  15. Check only the 'Domain' option and click Next.
  16. Name the rule 'Sophos RMS Rule'. Optionally enter a useful description and click Finish.
